Robert (Bob) Bowman
Landscape Artist

Bob Bowman grew up in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Bob was inspired by his intermediate Art teacher and won two contests at a young age, cartooning and designing a car of the future. Bob returned to art in college where he earned a B.S. and M.S.E., with a minor in art at the University of Wisconsin at River Falls. His career in Elementary Education finally led to a position of Elementary Art Curriculum Coordinator for the South Washington County Schools. In this position he taught specialized art lessons to thousands of children each year.

After taking up oil and pastel painting in 1999 at the Burnsville Area Society for the Arts, Bob began a new phase in his art journey as he discovered landscape painting. His inspiration comes from many of the American modernist painters. His emerging style and philosophy is ever changing today.

In 2005, Bob collaborated on a sixty-foot three dimensional historical mural in Saint Paul Park depicting the history of this Missippi River town. He enjoys doing live paintings at the art street fests like the White Bear Lake Marketfest and the Cottage Grove Garden Tour. He currently takes classes and is a member of the Bloomington Art Center. Most recently he was an Artist in Residence for Red Rock Elementary School in Woodbury, where he took seven hundred and fifty students through seven different multi-cultural art projects.

Bob is currently retired and lives with his wife Linda and three pets in Cottage Grove.
