Wayne is a former Taxidermist who draws much of his wood carving experience
from his lifelong passion for the outdoors and love for fishing. Wayne is
an angler who appreciates fish on several different levels; as a sportsman,
nature enthusiast and artist.
Wayne became interested in fish carving while he was a taxidermist. However,
his greatest attraction to the outdoors is the pleasure derived from fishing
trout and salmon. They are his favorite carving subject.
He primarily uses basswood for his carving, and says it's simple, "I just carve
away everything that doesn't look like trout.
It is his love for the outdoors that is visible in each painstaking stroke
of the carving tools as he gently moves across each carefully selected piece
of wood. Every action and movement is indelibly etched in his memory.
After many hours of carving over several weeks, each piece of wood is transformed
into a work of art. Each carving is a one-of-a-kind masterpiece of his fishing
experience and memories.
Wayne makes his home in New Richmond, Wisconsin which is near several of his favorite
trout streams, where he is always anxious to be.
